Limerick School of Art and Design holds quite an energetic atmosphere as different projects are constantly running and being showcased from each of the 4 years. The highly enthuastic and creative grounds of L.S.A.D also invites irish and international artists to showcase their work in the beautiful space of the church gallery.

I thought it would be interesting to discuss the various exhibitions that are happening within the grounds of the institute and to give you a taste of the creativity that floats about this distinguished art college.

TransFORM is a ceramic exhibition which is currently showcasing (2
nd Nov – 24
th Nov) in the Church Gallery of L.S.A.D. It is a celebration of the highest quality craftsmanship and represents the best of contemporary ceramic practice from makers at home and abroad. This landmark exhibition is an important event in the history of Ceramics Ireland, as it expresses the ongoing efforts to boost Irish ceramic practice .

There were some beautiful pieces within this exhibition. I found the gold spill piece to be highly attractive and beautifully designed as it displayed the map of the world in gold. I also loved the sculpture of the figure playing the cello, as it is a highly geometric based piece and the colours seemed to flow with the piece. The light sculptures also caught my attention as there is something so delicate yet mysterious about them. The warm light they give off gave me a sense of comfort and the richness of this light was just so utterly blissful.
This exhibition is without doubt a must see show. I would recommend anyone in the area of limerick to pop into the institute and check out the exhibition.

The second exhibition which is currently running in the grounds of L.S.A.D is a project by the 2nd year Fashion students of this college. The theme of the exhibit is "All About Pattern" and all the pieces in the project are created in knit. The project brief for this assignment was that the garments were to be knitted in geometric patterns.

Looking at this highly skilled and creative work really makes me feel proud to be apart of the close-knit community of L.S.A.D. The hard work and productivity of our fashion students is quite outstanding.
There are so many impressive garments within the collection. My favourite piece from the exhibit is the piece in the right-hand side photograph. It is a highly contemporary piece with great detail. As a consumer, I would expect the likes of this work to be showcased in highstreet shops such as Topshop and various other well-known branded labels. It holds a tribal sense which is utterly ravishing. I also love the colour scheme of the piece as it is rich and earthy which goes which the pattern work that is tribal.
Overall the quality of these garments really showcases the skill our fashion students and the top notch facilities we have within the grounds of L.S.A.D.
